Whether or not you were raised to believe in miracle healing, you will eventually meet someone who has experienced this wonderful blessing from God. I must confess that I grew up believing that such healing occurred in Bible times only. However, my husband claimed to be healed of a severe burn by the laying on of hands when he was a child. As an adult I discovered that my father had been healed of a disease which we have since learned is “incurable.” Over the course of a year, I got to know Robert “Bob” Faid, author of numerous books, including a series called A Scientific Approach to Biblical Mysteries. A scientist and former atheist, Mr. Faid was healed of terminal cancer by the faithful prayers of his Christian wife and her friends. In his instance, the miraculous healing brought him to the cross, where he accepted Jesus as his savior.

In light of these evidences of the healing power of God, I sat aside my ingrained skepticism and did more research on this subject. For instance, I learned from a teaching tape (courtesy of the Duane Sheriff Ministries) that there are six ways to be healed. Recently, a little boy in my church received complete healing from leukemia -- through modern medicine. That is one way that God may choose to bring healing.

The result of my research is that I believe that God can and does heal people even now. The verses that follow may encourage you as they encourage me.

Psalms 6:2~ “Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.” (KJV)

Psalm 30:2~ “O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.” (NIV)

Psalm 103:1-5~ “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (KJV)

Psalm 107:19 & 20~ “Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” (KJV)

Proverbs 3:5-8 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes: fear the LORD, and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” (NIV)

Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. (KJV)

Isaiah 38:16~ “LORD, by such things men live, and my spirit finds life in them, too. You restored me to health and let me live. Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish.” (Hezekiah’s testimony - NIV)

Isaiah 53:4 & 5 ~ “Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities: the punishment that brought us peace was upon him; and by his wounds we are healed.” (NIV)

Isaiah 57:18-19~ “I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him, creating praise on the lips of the mourners in Israel. Peace, peace, to those far and near,” says the LORD, “And I will heal them.” (NIV)

Jeremiah 17:14~ “Heal me O Lord, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved: for you are the one I praise.” (NIV)

Jeremiah 30:17~ “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the

LORD; because you are called an outcast, Zion, for whom no man cares.” (NIV)

Jeremiah 33:6~ “Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to [the city]; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.” (NIV)

Malachi 4:2~ “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.” (NIV)

Matthew 8:16~ “When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.” (NIV)

Matthew 9:35~ “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.” (NIV)

Luke 9:11~ “He welcomed [the crowds] and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.” (NIV)

Luke 17:19~ “Then he said to him, Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

James 5: 14-16~ “Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (NIV)

I Peter 2:24~ “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”

A Final Thought: Nowhere in the Bible is it recorded that anyone who sought healing was turned away or denied. As I have, may you also find hope in God’s Holy Word.
